Presentation Sensation
First, I want to talk about why I chose to go with Marine Biology and not Animal Behavior for this project. I want to talk about why this major is important to me and what I hope to potentially get out of it/what my expectations are.
-“I was really torn between Marine Biology and Animal Behavior, but ultimately chose Marine Biology because…”
-“I’m hoping that I will get to do hands on learning/research while working towards creating a healthier and cleaner environment for marine life.”
Then I want to talk about who I chose to interview and what their relationship is to marine bio– maybe thoughts/feelings I had before actually meeting them.
-“I chose to interview xyz because…”
-“I was a little nervous to meet xyz because I wasn’t sure what to expect, or if they’d be able to answer the questions I had for them.”
Then I will talk about the questions I asked them & what I was hoping to learn from their answers. I will talk about what they told me and how it relates to my expectations in this major. I will talk about if their answers made me feel more or less confident about choosing Marine Bio.
-“I asked ____ about ____, and it made me feel ___..”
Lastly, I will talk about my overall thoughts, what stood out to me the most, the things I learned and whether I feel like this major is fit for me or if I want to keep exploring my options.
-“I learned a lot about ____ while exploring this major, which I was not expecting…”
I may do a visual presentation– I’m leaning more towards a slideshow with images and vague bullet points just to have up behind me while I talk. I feel like it might keep people’s attention easier, and I can always refer to it if I need more talking points.
–I may include images that relate to my talking points
–I will try to make it visually appealing to keep people’s attention and make it more interesting to people who are more visual learners.
–It’s a good fallback in case a lose my spot, I can refer back to it for talking points, it’ll make it easier for people to follow along with what I’m saying
Reflection
Everyone in my group had some really creative ideas. I am now confident in my decision to use a slideshow with my presentation to help me with visuals and talking points. I know the structure of what my presentation might look like and what I want to discuss/what I might leave out. I think I will keep most of what I was planning on doing above.
